Employer hiring incentives

The state of Ohio and the federal government offer a variety of incentives to help employers with their hiring needs.

Current state programs include:

  • On-the-job training
    Ohio’s OJT program provides an incentive to hire dislocated workers (workers who are currently on unemployment or have exhausted their unemployment benefits). It essentially provides a partial wage subsidy to the employer during the employee’s training program. To find out more about this program, please call Stewart Leonard at (513) 785-6511.

  • Ohio Workforce Guarantee
    The Ohio Workforce Guarantee is a program that companies can use to ensure their workers are on the cutting edge of their industry.
    Managed by the Ohio Department of Development's Workforce and Talent Division, the Ohio Workforce Guarantee provides technical and financial assistance directly to employers to train their workers.

Federal programs include:

  • Work Opportunity Tax Credit
    The Work Opportunity Tax Credit program provides Ohio employers with a federal tax credit when they hire individuals from 11 target groups of disadvantaged job seekers.
